Dreams Come True

Once upon a time there was a boy who lived in a small town and dreamed of moving to New York City. He had fantasies of working in fashion and modeling for his idols, the designers he worshipped in the issues of Vogue and W he would buy each month. At 16 after a very painful growth spurt he reached the height of 6'3 and became obsessed with making his dreams come true. Years down the line he graduated with a degree in Fashion design, moved to NYC and experienced so many of the things he had dreamt about. The one thing he hadn't achieved, which he thought had a time limit because of age, and had just about given up on was walking the runway. To most this may seem ridiculous, but for anyone who has lived in a small town, who has ever felt like the ugly duckling, who wanted to be a part of something more knows where the boy is coming from.

The boy is now 25, the boy is (obviously) me.

I know this is silly, I know it's shallow, but last night a dream I was holding on to for so long because a tiny piece of me refused to let go of came true. Betsey Johnson asked me to walk in her show. I of course accepted but was to busy with working to get the show together to get excited for the fact that I was going to be in it. It wasn't until I got my hair, makeup and nails done, then changed into my look that I started to turn back into that little boy and the adrenalin started to race through my body.

After my turn on the runway, my heart was racing, my hands were shaking. Words can not express what I was feeling. Happy and its synonyms just don't cover it. The 16 year old inside me lived out his dreams that the 25 year old on the outside was convinced would only ever be a dream.
